Is it time for yet another classic game revival? Revolution Software sure hopes so. The UK-based game developer has just launched a new Kickstarter fund raising campaign with the hopes that it will serve to raise money for a new game in the Broken Sword adventure game series.
For those gamers who are not aware of the franchise, the series began in 1996 as a point-and-click adventure game centering on the characters George Stobbart and Nico Collard as they try to unravel a massive conspiracy. Three more games in the series have been released over the years, with the last in 2006.
In the Kickstarter page, it states that the next game in the series has the title Broken Sword: The Serpent"s Curse. The site states:
When a mysterious painting is stolen during an armed raid on a Paris gallery, George and Nico are thrown by chance into the investigation together. From Paris to London and beyond, the trail becomes a race against time as dark forces from Europe"s turbulent past are woken from their slumber. Broken Sword characters old and new are encountered - but who can George and Nico trust? The journey they are on reveals a conspiracy as old as the written word, whose ancient heresies will cause innocent blood to spill once more...
Many of the original team members who worked on the first Broken Sword games will be developing this new installment, which is scheduled for release on the PC and other platforms in 2013. While the Kickstarter campaign just started today, it has already raised over $100,000 of the $400,000 goal with over 29 days to go.
