Not to be out done by other companies offering GameCube memory cards. Nintendo today announced the availability of a new memory card that can hold 8MB of data for only $29.99.
Nintendo has announced the availability of a beefed up memory card for the GameCube.
The original Memory Card 59 for the GameCube was a relatively low storage device. Now, with the introduction of the Memory Card 1019, gamers can save up to 8Mb of data, 17 times more than the original.
This now brings the GameCube on par with the standard memory card offerings of the Xbox and PlayStation 2. The purpose behind this new high-capacity memory card has not been explained by Nintendo. Perhaps this is advanced planning for upcoming games that will demand more storage space than what is currently available. A more mundane reason could be that they are responding to gamer complaints about the lack of storage space for the GameCube.
