Sony has been known to craft some beautiful handsets in the past. While the Xperia XZ1 hasn"t been officially announced yet, there have been rumors floating around the internet that state that it is on its way and an official reveal should happen in the coming weeks. Although we have seen images of the rear panel in the past, this new render gives us a cleaner and more complete look.
The render comes courtesy of OnLeaks, who has been fairly reliable in the past when it comes to information about devices that have not officially made their debut. As you can probably tell from the image and video, XZ1 will indeed follow in the footsteps of previous Sony Xperia smartphones, with a glossy finish and uniform look. The primary components of the exterior will be premium, making use of metal and glass, and will likely be waterproof.
The XZ1 should be powered by the latest from Qualcomm with its Snapdragon 835 processor and will have a 5.2-inch display. As for the camera, it is rumored to leverage a 19MP sensor with 4K video recording and should be able to capture 960fps slow motion video similar to what can be achieved with the current Xperia XZ Premium. While the camera looks pretty clear cut, there has been much speculation about the black band that resides next to the sensor and what it might do.
As for an official announcement, there is the possibility that Sony could reveal the handset during IFA Berlin which is during the first week of September. If so, there isn"t much longer to wait.
