New version of Skype Click to Call makes it easier to find free calls

Everyone likes free stuff, right? That includes making free phone calls. Microsoft"s Skype division has now made it a little easier to find free phone calls that can be accessed when viewing and accessing phone numbers on websites.

The Skype Garage blog reports that new Windows (6.5) and Mac (2.4) versions of the Skype Click to Call software are now available to download. The new build will now allow Skype users to see that phone numbers on websites that are free to call will have a magenta color from now on.

In addition to the new color coded free number support, Skype Click to Call also adds support for its use within Windows 8. People who are currently using the Firefox 18 and Chrome 23 web browsers can also use the new versions of Skype Click to Call. Of course, Google has recently launched the new Chrome 24 browser so it"s possible that this new version of Skype Click to Call may not work on the latest version of Chrome.

Skype also says this new version has "various performance and stability improvements" but the change log did not go into detail on this aspect of the changes.
