Microsoft continues to launch new TV ads to help promote the launch of Windows 8.1, or as the commercials call it "the new Windows". On Tuesday night, the latest such ad started running on the broadcast networks in the U.S. and this one showcased its new Bing Smart Search features.
The ad, which was later posted on the Windows YouTube channel, shows how Windows 8.1 will be able to use the Bing engine to search for content on both the PC and on the web without having to go to a search engine website. It"s a similar message that was presented by the recent Bing TV commercials, except that it concentrates just on Windows 8.1 and not on any other Microsoft products.
Microsoft seems to be going for a low key approach to marketing this OS update. It remains to be seen if these new ads, which again don"t even mention Windows 8.1 by name, will be effective in telling the public how many changes the company has put into the update compared to Windows 8. With the launch scheduled for early Thursday morning in the U.S, we should know soon if Microsoft"s attempt at a quick fix will be successful.
