Microsoft opened the registration for its BUILD conference earlier today and then quickly closed the sign-ups as the conference has now sold out. While BUILD is certainly exciting, a new logo was spotted on the BUILD homepage that may indicate that the Windows Phone logo is about to get a refresh.
If you go to buildwindows.com and scroll about half way down the page, you will see a new logo next to the Windows Phone name. The new logo matches that of Windows 8 and Azure and also uses a similar color to the previous logo.
Old logo top / New logo bottom
While this could be a simple mistake, we suspect that this will be the new Windows Phone logo for Windows Phone 8 which is expected to hit RTM in September. When this happens, it will allow developers who are attending BUILD to get their hands on Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8.
Microsoft has already shown off a preview of what Windows Phone 8 will bring to the table back in June. With BUILD right around the corner, Microsoft may have had a busy Summer but this Fall is turning out to be just as exciting as well.
Thanks for the tip Ben!
