While Microsoft has yet to announce when the first Windows Phone 8 smartphones will go on sale, all signs point to the devices becoming available in early November. That means more people could be downloading apps from the recently rebranded Windows Phone Store.
This week, the official Windows Phone developer blog announced that Microsoft has now updated the company"s official Windows Phone Store badges. The blog states, "The badge provides official branding assets to help you market your Windows Phone app, and help your customers find it."
The new badges come in three sizes (125x40, 208x67, and 376x120. shown above) and two colors: black and blue, although Microsoft does admit that the " .... blue accent is our preferred color of the two badge designs." The blog adds:
What you won’t see with the new Windows Phone Store badge is a multitude of localized Download Now images, for all the different markets where Windows Phone apps are available. Instead, the new badge has the clean and simple shopping bag icon customers see in the Windows Phone Store and the Windows Store to indicate that your app is ready to purchase and download.
The new badge can be used both in print and online to promote any Windows Phone app that is currently available for download in the Windows Phone Store. The blog adds that Microsoft will release other versions of the Windows Phone Store badge that app developers can use, including a vector-based image and a layered chassis image.
