Newegg has announced that it will accept payments in the form of the Dogecoin crypto currency. The announcement was made official a few hours back after the e-tailer had teased such a thing earlier today. The idea occurred to Newegg as a way to celebrate #DogeDay which makes it one of the first major e-tailers to accept Dogecoin as payment. Interestingly, Newegg was also one of the first to move ahead with Bitcoin as a way to pay back in 2014. Here"s what Andrew Choi, Sr. Brand Manager of Newegg said:

For customers on Newegg who wish to pay using Dogecoin, one has to click “Edit” in the payment section on the checkout page when completing an order and then select the "BitPay" option as the method of payment. You can find more information related to payment via BitPay here. In the last 24 hours, Dogecoin has had a 10% jump and is currently trading for ~$0.419.
