Pokémon GO has retained a fair deal of popularity since its initial launch back in 2016, and Niantic seems to be working to keep that momentum. With an update coming in the near future, players will find it significantly easier to make progress in aspects of the game that require them to move around.
Adventure Sync is a new feature which will record how much the user walks even when Pokémon GO isn"t open. This means that activities such as hatching eggs (in the game) and receiving candy from a partner Pokémon - which work based on the distance the user has walked - will now be possible without having to launch the app.
This should not only make it easier for such tasks to be completed, but it should also be much more friendly towards the battery life of devices. Pokémon GO already features a battery saver mode, which greatly dims the display and removes all visual elements from the screen when the phone isn"t being actively used, however, all the additional elements of the game are still running (and using power) in the background, ready to be seen as soon as the user raises their phone. This new feature could be a major push towards extending the battery life of players" devices.
Of course, this will probably still require access to the user"s location, which uses plenty of power in itself. Because of that, Adventure Sync can be enabled or disabled at any time, saving you more battery when you have no interest in making progress inside the game.
In more content-oriented news, Niantic recently announced the star of the next Community Day in Pokémon GO, which is taking place on November 10. On that day, players will have an increased chance of catching Cyndaquil, a creature introduced with Pokémon Gold and Silver, much like the Chikorita featured in September"s event. In addition, players will be able to get twice as much XP and Stardust for catching a Pokémon.
On top of that, Niantic and The Pokémon Company have revealed a whole new Pokémon, Melmetal, which is an evolution for Meltan. Both creatures will be introduced later this year as a result of connecting Pokémon GO to the upcoming Nintendo Switch titles, Pokémon Let"s Go, Pikachu! and Let"s Go, Eevee! You can check out both of the new Pokémon in this video. Last week, creatures originally discovered in the Sinnoh region also started being added to the mobile game, though this is being done in waves, for some reason.
