Ninja Theory came out with a multiplayer brawler last year named Bleeding Edge, breaking away from its single-player history that touts games like Hellblade: Senua"s Sacrifice and DMC: Devil May Cry. However, less than a year after its release, the studio is moving on from Bleeding Edge.
In an announcement over Twitter, Ninja Theory confirmed that Bleeding Edge won"t get any more content updates as it is putting its focus on other projects. While the game will be in maintenance mode it will still be playable by PC (Steam and Microsoft Store), Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S players that own it or access it via Xbox Game Pass.
The final content update to Bleeding Edge arrived back in July 2020, which brought in Azrael as a new Fighter, Facility 665 as a new map, as well as new cosmetic items and other changes. According to player data numbers from Steam, the 4 vs 4 team game only saw a peak of 828 players around launch, and currently has an average of four players each day on the platform.
As for its future games, Ninja Theory is currently developing the highly-anticipated Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 as well as a high-fidelity horror title that currently has the name Project: Mara attached to it. As Ninja Theory is under Microsoft"s Xbox Game Studios umbrella, both games are slated to be Xbox platform exclusives and are heading to Windows and Xbox Series X|S.
