Nintendo is enticing users to its paid online subscription service with exclusive merch

Nintendo recently announced that its online subscription service will be going live in the United States on September 18 and a day later in Europe. While there are certain software perks that will be available to subscribers as part of the monthly fee, Nintendo has now shown off some new pieces of exclusive merchandise that will be available to subscribers as well.

Perhaps the more intriguing out of the two is the NES Controllers for the Switch. As you can see from the image, the bundle will include two NES Controllers that will be rechargeable, similar to the standard Switch controllers. They will also be able to dock to the sides of the Switch console and with L and R buttons on the top. The bundle will retail for $59.

If you are paying up front for a 12-month subscription, you will receive download codes for new gear to use in Splatoon 2. It"s certainly an interesting tactic but one that is not entirely new, since for years now, Nintendo has been rewarding its loyal customers with exclusives through alternate rewards programs. If interested in the service, you"ll be able to take it for a seven-day test drive when it goes live next week.
