Nintendo already offers a couple of fitness experiences on the Switch with titles such as Fitness Boxing and Ring Fit Adventure, but if you"re not willing to spend money, there may be something for you today. The company has announced on Twitter that Jump Rope Challenge is now available for the Nintendo Switch. Aside from being an out-of-left-field announcement and release, the title is also free to play.
Jump Rope Challenge is a simple fitness-oriented game, aimed at giving players an active break in their day. The title is pretty self-explanatory, with players being asked to hold one Joy-Con in each hand to simulate the movement of the rope while jumping. It also has a two-player mode, with each player holding one of the Joy-Con and jumping at the same time.
The game will keep track of how many jumps you do each day, with a simple chart showing your progression over time. The minimum daily goal is 100 jumps, but you can change the settings to set a goal of up to 900 jumps, and it"s always possible to do more than the goal if the player wants to.
Nintendo says the title was developed by a small number of Nintendo employees while working at home in Japan, and it was designed so they could get some exercise done every day while staying at home. As lockdown restrictions ease around the world, some may prefer to exercise outside, but if you feel safer at home, this could be a valid way to stay active. The game is available on the eShop, and if your Switch has been connected to the internet, you"ll probably see it in the News section with a direct link to the download.
