Nintendo reveals more indie games coming to the Switch, Goat Simulator out now

As promised, Nintendo published its latest Indie Highlights video today, and it showcased a few games coming to the Nintendo Switch in 2019. While some of them are still a ways off, other titles were dropped onto the eShop today as a surprise.

Starting with the titles out right now, there"s When Ski Lifts Go Wrong, a physics-based construction game which puts players in charge of designing courses for skis, bikes, lifts, and more. As with many games of its kind, the end result is often chaos, death, and some laughs. Here"s the official trailer:

Also out right now is infamous Goat Simulator: The GOATY, which lets you do just about anything you can imagine as you take control of a goat. The game has been out for a while on other platforms, but the GOATY edition includes all the DLC released for the game so far.

Unruly Heroes closes out the trio of games released today. It"s an action platformer where players have to drive back the evil forces that have taken over the land. It can be played with up to four people cooperatively, but players can also face each other in fights. The game is out on all major platforms, and you canc heck it out below:

In addition to today"s releases, there are many other titles coming sometime this year. On February 1, Wargroove, a turn-based strategy game in which you command an army to fight off enemy forces, comes to Nintendo"s hybrid as well as the Xbox One and PC. It features a single-player campaign as well as online and local multiplayer.

Also coming soon, though without a clear date, is Forager, a 2D open-world game that lets players gather resources, explore the world, fight enemies, and expand their base as they wish. The game is described as a combination of elements from Stardew Valley, The Legend of Zelda, and Terraria. The game is also coming to Steam and the PlayStation 4.

In the summer, Double Kick Heroes will make its way to the Switch as a temporary exclusive, though it"s already available on PC through Steam Early Access. The game mixes rhythm with shooter elements, all with a soundtrack based mostly on metal songs, and it will support motion controls if you"re into that. There are 30 original tracks in the game, as well as some licensed ones.

Also slated for later this year is CrossCode, an SNES-style game that combines fast-paced combat, puzzles, and a sci-fi story that takes place in the future into an action RPG that"s been very well-received on Steam since its release in September. You can check out the latest trailer here.

There"s also Steamworld Quest, the latest entry in the Steamworld franchise. It"s a card battle RPG, a departure from the typical puzzle games of the series. It"s coming to the Nintendo Switch first, but it"s not yet known when that will happen. Here"s the announcement trailer.

Lastly, there"s Inmost, yet another Switch-first title, though it"s also coming to Steam this year. It"s a 2D puzzle platformer, but it also has a dark, interconnected narrative between three playable characters. Watch the announcement trailer here.

That"s a relatively small portion of the titles coming to the Nintendo Switch in the coming months, and it"s likely that more presentations like this will be coming later on. If you"d like to watch the whole 16-minute Indie Highlights video, you can do so here.
