It has been a little over a year since Nintendo released Super Mario Run for Apple devices. Now the company has confirmed that it will bring one of its other major IPs, Mario Kart, to smartphones.
The game itself will be called Mario Kart Tour but beyond that, there isn"t really much information. Nintendo has stated that it will bring the game to smartphones sometime before March 2019. While that is certainly a wide release range, hopefully, we will see a simultaneous release for both iOS and Android, instead of the staggered release we saw with Super Mario Run.
It"s hard to imagine that Nintendo was in bad shape only a few years ago with the struggling sales of the Wii U console. The firm started its turnaround towards the end of 2016, with the release of the NES Classic Edition, then the Switch in March 2017, and the release during holiday 2017 of the SNES Classic Edition. The firm revealed that it sold an impressive 14.86 million Switch consoles in 10 months time.
