Nintendo and its iconic figures like Mario have been a staple of gaming and pop culture for over 20 years. Although we have interacted and admired the world created by the developer through its various consoles and games, we have never truly experienced the world of Nintendo in its physical form. This will all change in the next few years, as it was announced late last year that there would be a Nintendo-themed attraction at Universal theme parks.
Today, a groundbreaking ceremony in Japan was held, along with the release of a new trailer for the upcoming Super Nintendo World. While there really isn"t much to go on, the trailer did give us a CG render of what to possibly expect. Towards the end of the clip, we can see a layout of the area, which shows off Peach and Bowser castles, along with various settings from the world of Super Mario sandwiched in between.
Universal and Nintendo confirmed that a Mario Kart ride would be an attraction, with a patent for the ride indicating that the experience will be comprised of one rider controlling the drifting of the kart, while another is tasked with collecting power-ups and using weapons. The Nintendo-themed environments will arrive at parks located in Japan, Hollywood, and Orlando. While a specific release date hasn"t been announced, the attractions will be rolled out over the next several years.
