One of the most appealing factors about Nintendo"s Switch console is its hybrid nature, which allows players to use the system in any one of three modes - TV mode, handheld mode, and tabletop mode. However, the USB-C charging port of the Nintendo Switch is located on the bottom side of the device, which makes it impossible to play and charge the console at the same time in tabletop mode.
Many accessory makers have offered solutions to work around this inconvenience, but now Nintendo itself is offering a solution to the problem. The Adjustable Charging Stand for Nintendo Switch includes a USB-C port on the side to plug in the charger and then connects to the port at the bottom of the Switch itself.
The adapter includes its own adjustable kickstand, which should also provide more viewing angles and more stability than the Switch"s own off-center - and rather flimsy - kickstand.
The accessory will release in the United States on July 13, and at the time of writing doesn"t seem to be listed on Nintendo"s websites in other regions. American customers will have to pay just shy of US$20 for the privilege of playing while charging, and other regions will likely offer similar prices.
