Nintendo's 'Pokémon Shuffle' is coming to iOS and Android

For years, fans have eagerly awaited for Nintendo to bring some of its well-known characters and titles to their smartphones. After lackluster sales of its latest console and slumping revenue, Nintendo finally committed to releasing games on smartphones earlier this year. While it isn"t Mario or Zelda, Nintendo has announced their first official title for smartphones in the form of "Pokémon Shuffle".

Pokémon Shuffle is not a new title as it was released on the Nintedo 3DS earlier this year. Pokémon Shuffle is a puzzle game that focuses on clearing stages by lining up the same Pokémon in a row. The game is similar to other popular mobile puzzle games like "Candy Crush" and "Bejeweled". When the Pokémon are aligned, they will automatically clear themselves, freeing up lines and allowing the players to pass the stage. By passing each stage, players will be rewarded by capturing and collecting various Pokémon. The game will be available later this year for iOS and Android.

After a lackluster showing at this year"s E3, one can only wonder if entering the smartphone market this late in the game will help Nintendo. The company is also working on a successor to the Wii U though details of its next console are still scarce.
