No Facebook Redesign? Don't worry, it's coming

As Neowin reported earlier today, Facebook was expected to announce a site redesign at a press event held at its headquarters in Palo Alto, California.

At 10:30am PDT, the conference started and CEO Mark Zuckerberg started by informing us that Facebook has been in an employee “lockdown” for several weeks. What some people may have missed is that, he also stated there will be several new launches over the coming weeks; which includes a site redesign. The conference was streamed on Facebook Live and kept a steady average of 10,000 viewers throughout the talk.

The new features that were announced today: Download your information, a newly improved dashboard that integrates all the apps you"ve used and the final announcement that was said to be the solution to “the biggest problem in social networking,” an entirely revamped Groups feature.

It was reported that Facebook chat had been moved to the left hand side, which wasn’t a change that had yet been fully rolled out. Facebook Places and Groups, the newer features, currently differentiate their looks from Profile pages but this is soon going to change.

For those who use the newer features often, the graphical change won’t feel too drastic but will definitely be noticeable. There will also be minor tweaks in the interface to make everything come together as one.

You can watch a repeat of the talk here.
