Hello Games announced today that No Man"s Sky is finally heading to the Xbox One this year, shedding its PlayStation 4 console exclusivity almost two years after its original controversy-ridden launch.
Thankfully, the Xbox One port will be at a much better state when it lands, coming included with all the updates that have arrived for the PC and PlayStation 4 versions since their launch, including Foundation, Pathfinder, and Atlas Rises updates. The game will be Xbox One X enhanced as well, bringing 4K support, HDR, and more which have yet to be revealed. 505 Games will be handling the distribution of the Xbox One version"s new physical edition.
In addition to the new platform, Hello Games announced the game"s next free update today, supposedly its largest yet, which is conveniently named "Next." Regarding this major update, studio founder Sean Murray said:
“We are calling this No Man’s Sky NEXT because it is an important next step in a journey for No Man’s Sky, for Hello Games and for our devoted community. Each update for No Man’s Sky has been more successful than the last; this was especially true of our last update Atlas Rises. It emboldens the team to push ourselves further. This journey is far from over, and it’s exciting to be working again on something you know will surprise people.”
No information was shared on what exactly will this update carry, but it is planned for launch in summer this year, heading for PC, PlayStation 4, and the upcoming Xbox One version.
