HMD Global"s Nokia 3310 made quite a splash during Mobile World Congress earlier in the year but was only released in certain regions due to the limited cellular frequencies that were supported. Now the firm has announced a new model with support for 3G.
The new model will be dubbed the Nokia 3310 3G and will arrive in new colors and will also have a new UI that will allow users to choose their themes. Perhaps the biggest upgrade to this model is the inclusion of a 3G radio, making it so that it can be used in more parts of the world.
HMD Global"s Chief Product Officer, Juho Sarvikas, had this to say about its latest offer:
“Our reimagining of the Nokia 3310 has been a global and cultural phenomenon. In a world dominated by smartphones, the mix of nostalgia and a beautiful phone that just keeps going has captured people’s imagination. Our fans around the world have been asking for this iconic phone to support 3G. Fans asked, we listened, and today welcome the Nokia 3310 3G.”
The handset will come in an assortment of new colors that include Azure and Charcoal, but will also arrive in the standard offerings like Yellow and Warm Red. The device will be a tad bit bigger but will also provide a better typing experience due to the improved button layout. The phone will get up to six and a half hours of talk time and up to 27 days of standby. The Nokia 3310 3G will arrive mid-October for around €69.
