A few weeks ago, at Mobile World Congress, HMD Global unveiled a blast from the past: a new interpretation of the classic Nokia 3310, brought up to date with more modern features, and a refreshed design. The company said that the device would be priced around €49 in European markets, and would launch sometime in the second quarter of this year.
An exact launch date hasn"t yet been revealed, but there are clear signs pointing to its release in late-April, followed by the new Nokia 3 and 5 Android handsets, and international availability of the Nokia 6. In the UK, leading retailer Carphone Warehouse will be offering the device; last month, it described interest in the new 3310 as "astonishing".
But the new handset won"t only be sold by independent retailers - it"s also getting carrier support. As TechRadar reports, Vodafone UK has confirmed that it will be adding the 3310 to its range, and says that it"s "coming soon". However, rival UK operator O2 said that it won"t be selling the 3310, and it"s not yet clear if other carriers - such as Three and EE - will do so.
