Nokia launched the 808 PureView smartphone, with its 41 megapixel camera, earlier this year. It set the stage for Nokia"s PureView camera technology which will evolve in the upcoming Lumia 920. Today, Nokia announced that owners of the 808 PureView will be able to get a major software update starting today.
The post on the official Nokia blog goes over the changes and additions, which include a new Gallery Grid layout if the 808 PureView is moved to a landscape mode, as shown in the screenshot above. The Gallery Grid also lets users select and delete multiple photos. The update also offers users more information about each photo, such as the image"s file size, its resolution and more. Nokia adds, "When you are connected online, one click will show you on Nokia Maps where the photo was taken."
The 808 PureView software upgrade also updates its web browser to add "enhanced HTML5 support." It also offers users an improved keyboard which the company claims is faster. Finally, the update adds Car Mode. Nokia says this will give users " ... easy access to your phone’s key features when you’re driving." Other phones like the Nokia 603, Nokia 700 and Nokia 701 will get an update that adds the browser upgrade and the Car Mode feature.
