Nokia announces DC-18 external USB charger; looks like a physical Live Tile [Update]

Everybody agrees that Nokia is an industrial design powerhouse and they have a ton of talented people working on very beautiful designs. Coupled with the award-winning design of Windows Phone there are few products that look as beautiful as Nokia"s Lumia line of phones. But it seems to company doesn"t want to stop there.

After exporting the Lumia design sensibilities to their Asha line of phones, Nokia is now going a step further and creating accessories with the same style as the phones themselves. Feast your eyes upon the Nokia DC-18 portable USB charger. This enchanting little gadget is designed to look like a physical Microsoft Live Tile and it comes in Nokia"s range of vibrant colors.

The DC-18 is a very simple and very portable external charger for your phone. It"s very small and very light coming in at only 65 grams. Unfortunately this also limits the size of the battery inside, so you only get 1720 mAh which equals one full charge on your phone.

There"s no word on pricing and availability yet but the device is expected to retail for under $40.

Update: Maija Taimi of Nokia Media relations let us know about the pricing in a Tweet:

@avladd Glad you like it! Estimated price is around 15€ and it will be available starting in Jun-Jul, best to check from your local store
