Nokia has announced the launch of its Nokia Network Operations Master, a tool aimed at communication service providers (CSPs) to help manage complex 5G networks. According to the Finnish firm, network management systems for 2G, 3G, and 4G network have largely been manually operated but now these tools can’t scale for the needs of 5G.
Nokia Network Operations Master will allow CSPs to deal with physical and virtual network events, as 5G becomes more widely used these events would have placed a large workload on CSPs’ network operations centres. The tool allows firms to troubleshoot problems, administer their networks, manage software and configuration settings.
Commenting on the new solution, Ron Haberman, Chief Technology Officer at Nokia Software, said:
“With 5G forcing traditional functions, like revenue management and customer care, to the cloud and helping drive software deeper into the network, communication service providers need a modern approach to performing network operations that is automated, more efficient and scalable. The Nokia Network Operations Master delivers these capabilities and allows our customers to perform lifecycle operations with ease, efficiency, and confidence.”
As is common with enterprise products, Nokia has not stated the price of its services outright, it said that firms interested in using the software should head over to its 5G networks page and get in touch. It also said that it will be demoing its 5G product and services portfolio at Mobile World Congress in Hall 3 at stand 3A10. MWC will take place at Fire Gran Via in Barcelona, Spain from 24-27 February.
