The long wait for Nokia"s new Windows Phone flagship, featuring a 41-megapixel camera, is almost over. But ahead of its launch later this week, the leaks just keep on coming.
The latest revelations come via WPCentral, who got their hands on what appears to be an official render of the device, along with a few juicy new details. The image shows the handset in three colours - yellow, white and black - which lines up with what we reported earlier this week.
The render also seems to confirm previous leaks and rumours indicating that the device will indeed have a 41MP sensor along with both Xenon and LED flash units. WPCentral reports that the camera will be capable of capturing 38MP shots in a 4:3 aspect ratio; it will also be able to snap simultaneous 32MP and 5MP shots. The 5MP image employs the same "over-sampling" feature that Nokia"s earlier 808 PureView used, which condenses data from seven pixels into a single, densely-detailed "super-pixel". Like its Lumia 920 and 925 siblings, the device will also include optical image stabilisation.
There had been some recent confusion over the name of the device, with some sources suggesting that it would be called the "Nokia 909" as a follow-on to its predecessor, and it seems that - for a time at least - this was the intention. A photo taken by Windows Phone lead Joe Belfiore confirmed today that the handset will in fact be called the Lumia 1020.
WPCentral"s sources were also able to confirm that the handset will include 2GB of RAM along with 32GB of onboard storage, although there"s no microSD card slot to expand that, which may well cause some issues for those taking lots of 38MP snaps. The device will apparently ship with Windows Phone build 8.0.10322.71, featuring the latest OS update - General Distribution Release 2 - and Nokia"s newest firmware update, codename "Amber". Interestingly, the OS build currently shipping on the Nokia Lumia 925 is version 8.0.10327.77.
Finally, a Nokia-exclusive Pro Camera app will also be included with the 1020, giving users the ability to change advanced photo settings such as ISO, white balance, manual focus, shutter speed and flash mode on the fly.
As previously reported, the Lumia 1020 is expected to ship to Microsoft Stores on 22 July, with sales starting in the US by the end of the month, where it will be exclusively available on AT&T for those purchasing it with a contract.
