Nokia Lumia 800c, exclusive to China Telecom

AT&T will be the only US carrier to sell the Nokia Lumia 900 handset running Windows Phone when it launches next month - and if rumours are to be believed, their exclusivity period will last for a total of 45 days, in a deal which is said to be worth millions of dollars.

Now, WPSauce reports that on the other side of the world, China Telecom, a carrier with over 200 million subscribers, will exclusively offer the Nokia Lumia 800c (China"s "special" version of the Lumia 800 that we all know and love) in China for the next 30 days.

How is this news? First of all, deals like these are extremely rare in China. In fact, most of the cell phones there are sold in the free market and can"t be locked and/or controlled by the carriers.

Secondly, while exclusive deals are nothing new to the mobile industry, it"s refreshing to see Nokia"s efforts paying off as carriers now fight hard for the Lumia 800 and 900 exclusivity - something we"ve never seen before for devices running Windows Phone.

The Chinese version of the Lumia 800 will debut as early as tomorrow following a special launch event by Nokia.
