Nokia Lumia to become Microsoft Lumia 'in the coming days'

We"ve known for some time that Microsoft has been planning to drop the Nokia brand from its range of devices, after acquiring that company"s devices and services business earlier this year. As part of this transition, Microsoft has launched a new mobile devices website, replacing the one previously hosted on Nokia.com, and even unveiled its first self-branded phone charger, the Microsoft Portable Power

Even so, these changes have continued while Microsoft itself has not publicly acknowledged the immediacy of its plans to phase out the Nokia name. Nonetheless, that change is continuing, and the Nokia France account on Facebook today made a reference to them:

This translates as:

In the coming days, you will receive a message from Facebook on the renaming of this page.
We are about to become "Microsoft Lumia"!
Stay tuned to learn more soon..."

A report also popped up on Ireland"s Technology Blog claiming that Nokia social media accounts around the world would today begin signaling the changeover from "Nokia Lumia" to Microsoft Lumia, so it looks like Microsoft is finally kicking things up a gear.

We already know from an earlier leak that Microsoft plans to set the new Lumia logo in its corporate "Segoe" typeface, bringing its branding in line with that of the rest of the company, and ditching Nokia"s "Pure" font family
