With Nokia about to launch its Lumia 800 smartphone in parts of Europe, the smartphone maker is promoting how the Windows Phone-based device was designed and constructed and how it worked with Microsoft on the product. This week, Nokia posted up a nearly eight minute video on YouTube that gives some more details surrounding the design decisions of the Lumia 800.
The video has Nokia team members talking about various design and construction efforts. One feature was choosing to create the shell of the Lumia 800 in a new plastic construction called RF Transparent. Another big effort was given to the antenna design. Nokia claims it wanted to give Lumia 800 owners solid wireless connections when using the phone features or using the device to surf the Internet.
Even the curved design of the phone"s sides were designed by Nokia to allow users to feel more comfortable for accessing the Lumia 800"s touch screen and the Windows Phone interface. Nokia reps repeatedly said that the Lumia 800 design team collaborated extensively with the Windows Phone team at Microsoft.
The Lumia 800 is currently scheduled to launch in the UK and other parts of Europe on November 16.
