@bdsams While we have scaled back our show floor presence this year, Nokia will be visible at CES in other ways. You free to meet up?
Earlier today we heard that Nokia may not be attending CES. Following this bit of noise that swept across the Internet, it looks like Nokia will be at CES but they have scaled things back.
In a chat with Doug Dawson of Nokia on Twitter, he stated that “While we [Nokia] have scaled back our show floor presence this year, Nokia will be visible at CES in other ways”.
From the above statement, it would seem that Nokia will be there but they will not be exhibiting at a show booth. It would not surprise us to see Nokia take to the show floor with employees wondering the crowds to show off their devices. Nokia is quite good at guerrilla marketing so not having a booth does not mean they won’t have a visible presence.
From the previously rumored information, it looks like Nokia is working to make a bigger splash as Mobile World Congress this year.
With two large tradeshows occurring only a few weeks apart, it’s a bit hard to wow the crowds at two separate events that are so close together. It makes sense to focus on one show and go all out with announcements rather than having two keynotes with only modest updates or announcements.
