HMD Global is finally launching its much leaked Nokia X5 in China. This is its newest effort at bringing high-end niceties to affordable prices.
The Nokia X5 shares the same design language as the Nokia X6 which launched earlier this year. It is a metal and glass sandwich, with both the front and back adorned by Gorilla Glass. It features a full screen 19:9 aspect ratio with a notch. The notch houses the device"s 8MP selfie camera which HMD Global notes can capture "cute" pictures with face masks akin to Snapchat and Instagram.
At the back of the device, users will find a 13MP and 5MP dual camera set up and a fingerprint sensor which can be used for either authentication or mobile payments. Inside, the device is powered by a decidedly mid range Helio P60 processor with either 3GB/32GB or a 4GB/64GB configuration.
HMD Global is shipping this device with stock Android 8.1 Oreo, but users will have access to timely monthly security updates. The firm also explicitly promises Android P support when Google releases its next big Android update.
The Nokia X5 will be available from tomorrow in China for ¥999 ($149) or ¥1,399 ($208) for the 3GB and 4GB variants respectively.
