Last month, Microsoft announced a special "Microsoft Edition" of Samsung"s brand-new Galaxy S8 handset, marking an unprecedented move to sell Android phones in its stores. Customers will purchase the phone, after which a "Microsoft customization" will be applied in-store.
As it turns out, the United States isn"t the only place where you can pick up an Android phone from the Windows phone-maker. It"s also selling one in China, the Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus.
First spotted by Victor Ng at VTECH, we can see that the handset will come preloaded with some Microsoft applications, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Skype. Unveiled back in September, the Mi 5s Plus also includes a Snapdragon 821 chipset, a 5.7-inch 1080p display, 64GB of storage, and 4GB RAM, although there are also variants available with 128GB storage and 6GB RAM.
Pricing starts at ¥2,299 (~$334.19 USD), and the higher end model costs ¥2,599 (~$377.80 USD). It"s unclear if Microsoft has plans to sell more Android phones in China, or any other region for that matter, but you can check out the Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus in the company"s Store here.
