Thin and light PC notebooks based on the Ultrabook design backed by Intel have been out in the marketplace for a year now. Today, Intel and voice recognition software company Nuance announced a partnership where software from Nuance would be pre-bundled on some upcoming Ultrabooks.
Today"s press release offered up more information on the software, called Dragon Assistant. Nuance states:
Simply say “Hello Dragon” to awaken Dragon Assistant, and from there, just speak to search the web for content, information and shopping; access, discover and play music; check and reply to email; and, listen to and update social media statuses. Dragon Assistant also provides direct access to the most popular content providers for content on the web. For instance, people can say “Search YouTube for Justin Bieber.” When finished using Dragon Assistant, simply say “Go to sleep” for the application to stop listening.
The beta software will be pre-bundled on Dell"s XPS 13 Ultrabook, along with other notebooks, in the fourth quarter of 2012. The final version of the software will be released in the first quarter of 2013, but there"s no word if people who get the beta version will have to pay extra for the final build of the software.
