NVIDIA has announced a new entry-level budget GPU, the RTX 3050 at CES 2022. The RTX 3050 has a relatively affordable starting price of $249 USD which comes in at around $80 USD cheaper than the previous entry level RTX 3060.
The RTX 3050 is built on NVIDIA"s Ampere architecture and seeks to add ray-tracing capabilities to gaming at 60 frames-per-second while at 1080p. The entry level card has 2560 NVIDIA CUDA Cores, and a 1.78 GHz Boost Clock speed. The RTX 3050 also comes with 8GB of GDDR6 memory and offers NVIDIA"s third-generation Tensor cores which allow for Al-based DLSS.
As with the previous entry level NVIDIA RTX 30-series card, the RTX 3050 does not come with a Founder"s Edition model and will have to be purchased with one of NVIDIA"s partners instead.
While the RTX 3050 is set to become available for purchase on January 27th, high demand and the ongoing semiconductor shortages, are likely to make it extremely difficult to obtain one of these graphics cards. While NVIDIA is touting the RTX 3050 has an MSRP of $249 USD, given the high demand it may very well be even more difficult to obtain the RTX 3050 at those prices
