Nvidia driver version 430.39 WHQL now available with support for Windows 10 version 1903

With the upcoming Windows 10 May 2019 Update inching ever closer to a public release, companies are preparing new driver software to improve compatibility with the new version of Windows. After Intel added support for version 1903 last week, Nvidia is now doing the same with a version 430.39 of its own graphics driver. With support for the May 2019 Update also comes support for Variable Rate Shading, which Microsoft announced a few weeks ago.

Nvidia packed a few more changes into this driver, though. The new release adds support for the recently-released GTX 1650 desktop GPU, and well as the notebook variants of the GTX 1660 Ti and 1650, which are now available in 80 laptops from most major manufacturers. The new driver adds seven new G-Sync Compatible monitors to the list:

  • ACER - KG271 BBMIIPX
  • ACER - XF240H BMJDPR
  • ACER - XF270H BBMIIPRX
  • AOPEN - 27HC1R PBIDPX
  • ASUS - VG248QG
  • GIGABYTE - AORUS AD27QD
  • LG - 27GK750F

This release does drop support for some features and hardware, though. Starting with this release, GPUs using the Kepler architecture, including many 600 series, 700 series, and 800M series cards, are no longer supported. Additionally, the following features are also being dropped:

  • NVIDIA 3D Stereoscopic Driver, including the 3D Vision driver and USB (emitter) driver
  • NVAPI-based stereo APIs for Direct3D applications.

Aside from that, the driver also brings a slew of bug fixes, including a fix for memory leaks when launching games and random screen flickering in multi-display setups. Here"s everything that"s been fixed:

  • [madVR][HDR]: MadVR is not rendering videos in HDR mode using MPC player. [200505657]
  • [Surround][G-SYNC][Pascal GPU]: G-SYNC does not engage when using Surround resolution. [200505986]
  • Random desktop flicker occurs on some multi-display PCs [2453059]
  • Memory leaks occur when launching games. [2551904]

Despite the fixes, there are a couple of known issues still present in this release:

Windows 10 issues

  • [NVIDIA Control Panel]: When the 3D Settings page->Vertical Sync setting is set to Adaptive Sync (half refresh rate), V-Sync works only at the native refresh rate after rebooting the system. [2543187]

Additional issues

  • 200485204-Random crash when playing Sniper Elite 4
