WE KNOW THERE will be two variations of the GeForce FX card with different prices, and though Nvidia is still not ready to talk about it officially, many of the cats have crawled out of the bags one way and another. We also know the names of the cards are yet to be confirmed but they are likely to be Geforce FX 5800 Ultra and Geforce FX 5800.
We heard that these two versions are likely to have really different memory and core frequencies from Nvidia. The price for the high end version of the card that will feature 128MB of memory, using Nvidia"s reference design, will be around €600 for the card with VAT. This tax varies within the European Union, so it"s probably €499 before VAT.
We"re still hearing that they won"t be widely available in European shops until the end of February. I did further investigation and found that BFGtech guys formed by the former Visiontek crew is already offering its cards for preorder for €400 excl VAT with availability in March 2003, round about CeBIT time. Its card will be 500MHz for the GPU, and 1000 DDR II clocked.
