Over the last twelve months, Nvidia has launched a range of graphics cards covering a variety of budgets and performance requirements, including the monstrous TITAN Xp, the mighty GeForce GTX 1070 and 1080, the highly capable GTX 1060, and the wallet-friendly GTX 1050 and 1050 Ti.
Now, Nvidia has launched a new, and much more affordable, graphics card for those with even more modest budgets. The GT 1030 starts at just $69.99 - around $40 less than the cheapest GTX 1050 - and as VentureBeat reports, it"s designed primarily for e-sports gamers.
It"ll struggle to run titles with cutting edge graphics at max resolutions and frame rates, but for many games played in the competitive gaming space - such as Rocket League and League of Legends - it should provide sufficient performance without breaking the bank.
Its key specs include:
- 2GB GDDR5 video memory
- Core clock: 1265MHz
- Boost clock: 1518MHz
- 384 CUDA cores
- 1 x HDMI port
- 1 x DisplayPort
- 16 PCI-E lanes
The GeForce GT 1030 is not VR-ready, so if you"re thinking of getting a virtual reality headset like the HTC Vive or Oculus Rift, you"ll have to boost your budget and consider one of the more capable GPUs on the market.
