Just a week since 411.63, Nvidia today released its GeForce Game Ready WHQL-certified 411.70 drivers. There was a bit of a hiccup with the announcement of this version as the company published the drivers with the same notes as last week’s 411.63 release. A customer care representative did assure that the issue would be rectified soon, which turned out to be in three hours.
There isn’t much new with this version; Nvidia says that this is the Game Ready version for the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Forza Horizon 4, and FIFA 19, which is exactly what it said about last week’s 411.63 release.
One thing that Nvidia does specifically note is that this version “improves the GeForce RTX 20 Series cards" power management when idle,” which implies that this could be a hotfix.
Aside from that, there are a few bug fixes:
- [Turing GPU][Photoshop CC]: Corruption occurs in the application after increasing the image size. [200428197]
- [GeForce RTX 2080[PUBG]: Flickering occurs in the game. [200452381]
- [GeForce RTX 2080 Ti]: Video decoding performance has decreased. [2396479]
There are a few known issues as well, some of which come with a workaround, which we have highlighted:
Windows 10 Issues
- [GeForce GTX 1060]AV receiver switches to 2-channel stereo mode after 5 seconds of audio idle. [2204857]
- [GeForce GTX 1080Ti]: Random DPC watchdog violation error when using multiple GPUs on motherboards with PLX chips. [2079538]
- [Firefox]: Cursor shows brief corruption when hovering on certain links in Firefox. [2107201]
- [Windows Media Player][Notebook][MSHybrid]: The application crashes when run on the integrated graphics after setting the NVIDIA GPU Graphics settings to High Performance. [200450782]
- [Final Fantasy XV benchmark]: The benchmark exits fails with a "Failed to initialize DLSS Library" error when running in DLSS mode. [200448245]
- Workaround:
- Delete this file:
"Program Files/NVIDIA/Corporation/installer2.ngxcore/NGXCoreEtx.dllb"
Perform a Clean or Express installation of the NVIDIA driver
- [Turing GPU][[Netflix]: Playback resolution doesn"t show 4K bit rates when using a USB-C-HDMI connection. [200449656]
Additional Issues
- Custom color settings reset on reboot in Windows 10 FCU
- Random DPC watchdog violation error when using multiple GPUs on motherboards with LX chips
- Workaround: Use the following tool to enable MSI mode as a temporary workaround (only apply changes to each NVIDIA GPU installed):
https://github.com/CHEF-KOCH/MSI-utility/releases- Cursor shows brief corruption when hovering on certain links in Firefox/Steam
- Some games produce red/green/blue shimmering line with G-sync enabled and full screen mode on notebook screen
- Black screen on BenQ ZOWIE XL2730 when refresh rate set to 144Hz
- Gears of War 4 may freeze/crash after extended period of gameplay
Once again, it’s important to note that those who purchased an RTX 2080 or RTX 2080 Ti, or intend to purchase the RTX 2070, will also need to be on Windows 10 Fall Creators Update (RS3) or newer to properly utilize them, as these drivers will not install on older versions of Windows 10.
