NVIDIA releases GeForce 355.98 WHQL drivers for Windows 10

A new "Game Ready Driver" update is now available for NVIDIA GeForce cards for Windows 10, with the latest update coming in at version 355.98. Notably, the driver introduces support for the recently announced desktop-grade GTX 980 GPU for notebooks.

The still early-access game Killing Floor 2 is getting a big update due to the newly released driver that adds support for NVIDIA"s new PhysX FleX effects. This is the first time PhysX FleX is included in a game available to the public, albeit it is still in early-access. NVIDIA explains the differences in the new effects compared with PhysX:

Traditionally, GPU-accelerated PhysX effects are created using a combination of specialized techniques for rigid bodies, fluids, clothing, destruction, and other material types...

With Flex, a unified particle system is instead used for all effects, materials and objects, enabling previously-impossible interactions and effects. For example, a water balloon made of rubber can be realistically destroyed by a bullet, the water within can burst out when the bullet strikes, and it can then cause the destroyed balloon to float on its surface.

What this means for Killing Floor 2 gamers is more: "blood, bile, and other bits of gore". You can view a demonstration of PhysX FleX in all its gory detail here. The new update also includes updates for GameWorks VR SDK by adding notebook support, VR SLI enhancements, and various bug fixes.
