LG has announced that NVIDIA’s cloud gaming platform, GeForce NOW, will be arriving on select LG Smart TVs this week, albeit in beta. The service is already available on Windows, macOS, Chrome OS, Android and Safari for iOS but this is the first partnership NVIDIA has set up with a TV manufacturer to develop a Smart TV app.
Compatible TVs include select 2021 LG 4K OLED, QNED Mini LED, and NanoCell TV models in 80 markets. To get the app on a compatible TV, you’ll be able to head to the LG Content Store and hit the download button. The app will give players access to more than 35 free-to-play games with just a compatible controller, you won’t need any extra hardware.
Commenting on the development, Lee Sang-woo, senior vice president of corporate business strategy at LG Electronics Home Entertainment Company, said:
“LG customers are expecting the best when it comes to gaming on a large screen. Partnering with NVIDIA to bring GeForce NOW to LG TV owners is a sign of our commitment to deliver the best gaming experience on LG TVs running webOS.”
Among the games that you will be able to access are Rocket League, Destiny 2, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, and Crysis Remastered Trilogy. Each of the games will be playable at 1080p resolution and 60 frames per second. GeForce NOW Priority members will get access to more advanced features like ray tracing and AI technologies to improve the quality.
