A brand new role-playing game set at the edge of the galaxy was revealed during The Game Awards today, and it’s the brand new Obsidian Entertainment project that was teased recently. The game is titled The Outer Worlds, see the premiere announcement trailer above.
The single-player science fiction RPG takes place in Halcyon, a colony in the outer edges of the galaxy, far away from Earth. The original Fallout creators are involved in the development as well. Here"s how the trailer description describes the new world that players will be entering:
In The Outer Worlds, you awake from hibernation on a colonist ship that was lost in transit to Halcyon, the furthest colony from Earth located at the edge of the galaxy, only to find yourself in the midst of a deep conspiracy threatening to destroy it.
As you explore the furthest reaches of space and encounter various factions, all vying for power, the character you decide to become will determine how this player-driven story unfolds. In the corporate equation for the colony, you are the unplanned variable.
The Outer Worlds doesn"t fall under Microsoft"s Obsidian acquisition so it will be coming to PC (via Steam), Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. There isn"t a release date attached to the project yet, but it should land sometime in 2019.
