Obsidian's next big RPG is Avowed, a first-person Pillars of Eternity game

Obsidian is returning to its Pillars of Eternity fantasy universe to deliver Xbox fans a brand new RPG. Titled Avowed, its first teaser trailer landed during Microsoft"s Xbox Games Showcase today, catch it above.

Unlike previous games in the franchise set in the world of Eora that utilized an isometric perspective, Avowed will be a first-person game. The originals used Real-Time with Pause and turn-based tactical gameplay, but since the new title will be changing perspectives, we could see a more action-orientated Elder Scrolls-like approach.

Unfortunately, much like most of the other Xbox first-party announcements made today, no release date was revealed for Avowed during the event. However, there is a new Avowed portal set up on Obsidian"s website, which should reveal more information going forward.

Avowed will be releasing on Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Windows 10, and via Xbox Game Pass. Obsidian is also working on a DLC for its last RPG The Outer Worlds, with two new pieces of story content incoming. The studio"s upcoming tiny, open-world survival game Grounded is also incoming soon, with it landing July 28 via the Xbox Game Preview and Steam Early Access programs.
