The cooperative survival game that Obsidian Entertainment announced for PC and Xbox One last year, Grounded, received a spotlight on the special Inside Xbox presentation today. During the segment, we got to see a new trailer, showcasing some more of the miniaturized gameplay - single-player this time - , as well as a confirmation of its release date onto Xbox Game Preview and Steam Early Access programs.
Grounded will be rolling out on July 28, and prospective players can gain early access through two different methods: Outright purchasing it on Steam as a part of its Early Access program, or by being an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate member.
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is the big brother to the regular Game Pass subscription of Microsoft, arriving with access to both Xbox One and PC variants of the services as well as Xbox Live Gold, all for $14.99 per month. Microsoft has previously given exclusive access for one of its games before, with Ultimate subscribers gaining a few days of early access to Gears 5 before it launched.
The announcement didn"t say how long Grounded Game Preview will be Xbox Game Pass Ultimate exclusive. It could be that this new endeavor will last through the complete early access period of the game, and launch into the regular Game Pass like other Microsoft games.
Grounded is heading towards Xbox One, Microsoft Store, and Steam through their respective early access programs on July 28. There isn"t a full release arrival date attached to the game yet. Those who want to see more of the title can tune in to the developer stream at 2:40PM PT / 5:40PM ET on Mixer and Twitch.
