The two weeks of daily giveaways that the Epic Games Store began yesterday is already back with its second promotion. Replacing Cities Skylines as the newest freebie is Oddworld: New "n" Tasty.
The game is a remake of the 1997 Oddworld title Abe"s Oddysee, bringing back the sidescrolling puzzle platformer to modern platforms with brand new areas, overhauled graphics, animations, and high-resolution textures. Revamped controls that offer analog movement options, free aiming, and new abilities are included too. Of course, players are able to disable all the new additions and have a classic experience too.
Here"s how the Epic Games Store describes the title:
Explore ancient ruins, dodge carnivorous beasts and avoid trigger-happy guards as Abe, the original Oddworld hero in this lovingly recrafted, built from the ground-up and totally recooked take on the classic adventure Oddworld: Abe"s Oddysee.
Once a happy floor waxer in Oddworld"s biggest meat processing plant, Abe stumbles across his boss"s secret plan to turn the factory"s slave labor force into the latest in the RuptureFarms Tasty Treats line of novelty meat snacks. Abe now has to save his own skin from the grinders, but simply escaping the flesh farm is only the start of his Oddysee - for many dangers await Abe on his journey to discover his destiny.
Epic is offering the Windows version of the game, but the Steam, macOS, and Linux versions are available with a $19.99 price tag. The minimum system requirements are as follows:
- OS: Windows 7
- Processor: Intel i3-3220 (3.30GHz)
- Memory: 4 GB RAM
- Graphics: nVIdia GTX 260 or equivalent
- Storage: 10 GB available space
Oddworld: New "n" Tasty will be free to claim on the Epic Games Store until tomorrow, December 18, at 11AM ET, which is when another game will fill the freebie slot. The storewide holiday sale and the unlimited $10 coupon offer is ongoing as well.
