Microsoft today released a new Office Insider build for Mac users on the Fast ring. It brings the version number to 15.34, and the build number to 170426.
Fast ring builds for Office Insider tend to be, well, fast. Because of the frequent pace between builds, there aren"t always a lot of new features. Here"s what"s new in today"s build:
Creating meetings/tasks is made easy by dragging and dropping to the module bar (or by right clicking on the message > Create)
Preview pane: Anchor links in email message now work!
There are also a couple of fixes:
- Performance: Optimization is performed to stabilize CPU usage
- Groups: Fix a bug where inline images are not shown
And as tends to be the case with anything with the name Insider on it, there are a couple of known issues:
- Office Add-ins: add-ins icons are missing on the Ribbon. We are working to address the issue, and the fix will be released in next week Insider Fast release.
- @mention: Outlook crashes when you click to select on the people picker. The workaround is to use keyboard to tab “Enter” to select mentioned person.
To update Office 2016 for Mac, go to the Help tab in the menu and select Check for Update. You can also use this dialog box to join the Office Insider Program, and choose which ring you want to be a part of.
