Office Insiders on Android get a bunch of improvements to Outlook

Microsoft has released a new array of updates to its Office mobile apps on Android for those that have signed up for the Insider program. This month"s updates focus mostly on Outlook, which has received a number of improvements.

The company"s email client has received some updates, starting with the ability to edit a recurring series of events, rather than forcing you to edit each one individually. The calendar portion of the app also lets users respond to meeting requests with a new time proposal for the meeting, to which other users can then respond with other proposed times.

Meanwhile, the email section now supports POP3 accounts, and it also offers the ability to compress a video before attaching it to an email to make the upload faster. In light of Microsoft"s partnership with Samsung for the Galaxy Note10, Microsoft has updated the Outlook app to offer a new three-paned layout for larger screens. If you"re using Samsung DeX, the app will also support multiple windows and have optimized support for mouse and keyboard.

Aside from Outlook, only Word is getting a noteworthy change, which is the addition of grammar corrections. Spelling errors will be highlighted with a blue line underneath, and corrections will be offered automatically.

While these are the only changes mentioned in Microsoft"s changelog for Insiders, the company has also announced that a dark mode is on the way to the Outlook mobile apps and Office.com starting today.
