Vine has finally been released for Windows Phone 8 following its announcement in July, giving users of Microsoft"s smartphone operating system official support for the popular video-sharing social network.
The Vine app, which can be found in the Windows Phone Store here, looks similar to the Windows Phone app of its parent company, Twitter, featuring a dark navigation bar at the top, with a white content area below. As with the recently updated Twitter app, user accounts can be pinned to Windows Phone"s start screen for quick access, and Live Tiles are also supported.
One unique benefit to the Windows Phone version of Vine is that videos made with the app can be done using the operating system"s camera Lenses. Unfortunately, however, there aren"t many Lenses for video and photography at the moment. Instead, most companies are using that feature for other purposes, such as Nokia"s City Lens, which allows users to view the names of locations when looking through the camera.
Despite the official app"s arrival, Vine users have already been able to share their short videos to the social network through third-party apps such as Rudy Huyn"s 6sec. Additionally, the Twitter app has allowed playing of embedded Vine videos since June.
