Microsoft’s OneDrive cloud-storage service is a bridge that connects the company’s products as well as competing platforms, such as iOS and Android, and now the ability to share photos through that bridge will be easier than ever. To help make OneDrive a better experience for managing your photos, Microsoft has updated the service to work better on the Xbox and Windows Phone, and soon it will be easier to print photos, too.
First off, Microsoft has unshackled the Xbox Live gold requirement to use OneDrive on the Xbox One. Starting in June, you won’t need a gold subscription to access the app. Further, by saying, "Xbox, Go to OneDrive," you’ll see your most recent photos. For Windows Phone users, especially those with high-end cameras, the automatic upload of high-res images is now the default, eliminating mediocre uploads. This will certainly appease those who prefer to share their photos with OneDrive, as the service makes it quite easy to send out user-controlled links to friends and family.
Finally, Microsoft and Walgreens have linked up to make it a lot easier to print photos directly from the cloud service. To print your photos, you can do so by going to "Manage" and then clicking on "Order Prints" and then pick them up in about an hour.
While none of these changes are groundbreaking new features, they are small incremental updates that help to keep pushing OneDrive forward.
