OneNote for Android updated, new lasso tool introduced among other changes

Microsoft has rolled out version 16.0.9001.2134 of the OneNote app for Android. This update includes some new features, including the user-requested lasso tool.

Other changes include the option to resize pictures, and better support for users who prefer taking notes with a stylus. Moreover, users now have the ability to shift text and images anywhere on the page, to help maintain a better overall structure for their notes.

The full changelog for the update reads as follows:

    1. We heard you! Use the new lasso tool to freely select ink drawings and other content on your page.
    2. Change the size of images and move text and images around on the page to keep things organized.
    3. If you take notes with a stylus, OneNote now supports palm rejection for more natural and accurate drawing and handwriting.
    4. Bug fixes and performance improvements.

Initial user reviews indicate that although the new features are a welcome addition, selecting drawings using the lasso tool is pretty frustrating at the moment. Apparently, trying to perform different functions like resizing the text or moving the screen also results in the text being moved. Similarly, a number of users have complained about getting an error message when trying to launch the application following the update.

Users will be hoping that the introduced features will be improved in the coming updates. In any case, you can download the updated app here.
