Last week, Microsoft refreshed its suite of Office Web Apps with an updated design and an array of small but welcome UI changes. The OneNote Web App was of course one of those to be improved, and today Microsoft rolled out an updated design for the OneNote.com homepage for its cross-platform software.
LiveSide.net was first to spot the new look, which features a broad overview introducing the product to new customers. While OneNote is free to use across all platforms, "free trial" links on the homepage encourage visitors to sign up for a month of complimentary usage of Office 365 Home Premium.
Existing users can sign into the site to get easy access to all of their OneNote notebooks stored on SkyDrive, which will soon be rebranded as OneDrive.
Opening a notebook reveals the updated UI that rolled out earlier this week, featuring a two-column navigation structure that mirrors that of the OneNote app for Windows 8.x/RT.
The new look for OneNote.com is the latest in a series of changes that are rumoured to soon culminate in a rebranding of the Office Web Apps under a new "Office Online" identity.
The new branding, which is expected to be revealed in a matter of weeks, will reportedly see links to the Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote web apps added to Microsoft"s drop-down navigation bar that already features on sites like Outlook.com and SkyDrive.com.
