The OnePlus 10 Pro is scheduled for a global launch on March 31 and while the phone has been the target of some criticism due to its abysmal performance in a bend test, many consumers are obviously eager to get their hands on OnePlus" latest offering. However, it"s advisable that at least North American customers should temper their expectations slightly.
Although the OnePlus 10 Pro in North America will be almost identical to the variant released in China earlier this year, there is one key difference. While the phone features 80W SuperVOOC charging in China and will sport the same in Europe and India too, North American units will be limited to 65W. If you"re wondering what the reasoning behind this downgrade is, here"s what a OnePlus spokesperson had to the say about the matter:
In North America, the OnePlus 10 Pro supports 65W SUPERVOOC. This is because 80W SUPERVOOC does not currently support 110 or 120-volt AC power – the typical standard for power outlets in the region.
While this news will probably disappoint those in the U.S., perhaps there is some consolation in knowing that this is still the fastest charging standard in North America and is capable of fully charging the 5,000 mAh hosted by the OnePlus 10 Pro in 34 minutes. It is also important to note that wireless charging standards will be identical through 50W AirVOOC and will charge the phone in 47 minutes.
